Austin's Halloween Trick-or-Treat Trail
The Austin Parks and Recreation Department invites families and friends to the Annual Halloween Trick-or-Treat Trail on Sunday, October 26th, from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm. This year’s event will be held under the Moonlight Tower at Zilker Park. The Annual Halloween Trail provides a safe environment for children to celebrate Halloween.
The event will host a variety of fun carnival type booths, entertainment, and concessions. Children may participate in "frightfully fun" skill challenging games such as Mummy Bowling, Frankenstein Slime and Ghostly Ring Toss.
Joe McDermott will kickoff the day’s entertainment with his fun sing-along melodies. On stage entertainment will continue throughout the afternoon and will include the annual costume contest.

For a block of Austin's 37th Street each year, enthusiastic residents let loose the gates of restraint and go all out to decorate their houses and yards and even the street with one of the most dynamic community Christmas light displays in the Lone Star State. And this year is no exception.
It's been going on now for more than 20 years and started when one of the neighborhood residents hung a row of lights across a tree in the front yard and started adding to the display every year. It has grown to be one of the more dramatic examples of lighting creativity in the world, with residents sticking lights in every tree, across roof lines to the houses next door. Cars and curb lines and sidewalks and figurines have been lighted. Even pets and the residents themselves have been known to adorn themselves with twinkling lights to stand in the yard as thousands walk by to appreciate their creative minds and the handiwork of their desperate efforts to become the most decorated block in Texas.

Keep Austin Weird Fest! June 16th
The 2007 Keep Austin Weird Fest is Austin's celebration of all people, places and things that make Austin unique. This year's run is moving downtown with a Republic Square Park as the festival location. The Festival will feature great musical acts like Bob Schneider, Alejandro Escovedo and The Austin Chronicle's Best of Austin Biz-aar!
In addition to the festival, concert and 5K, we are adding a Kids 1K Run to the event this year. Each registered 5K and kids run participant will receive entry into the run, an event t-shirt, and the option to purchase a festival/concert pass with their online registration at a discounted rate.

Mothers around the world agree; breastfeeding is one of the most rewarding, fulfilling experiences of motherhood. But it is also full of challenges and mystery. Milkscreen aims to eliminate one mystery for nursing mothers by providing peace of mind that the milk baby drinks is alcohol free.
Why test your breast milk for alcohol? Alcohol in your breast milk can have a number of negative impacts on you and your baby:
Let-down and milk production: Studies show that alcohol can inhibit your let-down and milk production (one study showed a 23% decrease in milk volume with one drink1).
Calorie consumption by the infant: Your baby may also drink less milk if your milk contains alcohol, limiting the number of the extremely valuable calories he or she may receive.
Sleep: Studies also show that babies do fall asleep sooner after ingesting alcohol in breast milk, but they sleep less soundly and wake earlier.
Development of motor-skills: In more extreme cases, an infant's motor skill development may be hampered.
